What should I do? I think having both drivers active at the same time causes a conflict, which ties up the USB port. However my problem right now is that my Mac won’t “release” not sure what else to call this the device after I unplug it. My FTs would work after a reboot but if I disconnected and reconnected them they would not reappear. Someone who was having similar problems posted that when they gave the drive a name, it became visible in the mac OS. Something was working properly and now doesn’t, without any warning.

Have you tried using the kextload mac ftdi in terminal to load your driver? Something was working properly and now doesn’t, without any warning.
It was not accessible in OS X e. Did you really remove all previous FTDI drivers and 2. I have installed the version 2. After making suggested change, driver did not mac ftdi anymore.
